Nikhil Dwivedi is planning a Bollywood version of the supernatural show, Naagin. He will produce a franchise of three films directed by Vishal Furia, who directed the Marathi horror film Lapachhapi (2017). Ekta Kapoor’s show about shape-shifting snakes is currently in its fifth season. Karishma Tanna and Anita Hassanandani were part of the fantasy drama.
Producer Nikhil Dwivedi will once again bring the ‘Icchadhari Nagin’s’ Super Natural Powers to the big screen, which will showcase some very exciting visual effects to emphasize the super powers. The three-film franchise is directed by Vishal Furia. Although his web series Criminal Justice was very well received by both the industry and the public, he had already proven his mettle as a director with the Marathi super hit Lapachhapi, which won several awards, including at some major world festivals. Currently Vishal is also leading the Hindi remake of Lapachhapi entitled Chhori.
Nikhil, who has produced blockbuster films such as Veere Di Wedding and Dabangg 3, is planning his next production venture – a magnum opus that has been revolving around a Shape-Shifting Nagin for a while. Known for his vision, Nikhil has decided to release his three-tier Nagin franchise on a monumental scale. The movie will feature top stars and will be a love story, heavy on VFX and special effects. He has always been one of the most commercial makers in Bollywood and Nagin will be no different. He wants to set a different standard for mythodramas by designing this project on an international scale. Nikhil is already in talks with an A-list heroine to step into the lead, the announcement of which will be officially made once everything is locked.
Also before, Bollywood films based on Ichchadhari Nagins worked wonderfully well at the box office. Sridevi’s Nagina and Nigahen were the last to hit the tent. Even the TV series has recorded incredibly high TRPs, demonstrating the pan-Indian reach and consumption of such content. And now that he’s announcing his Nagin trilogy, expectations have skyrocketed.
