Birthday Special: What are some of Deepika Padukone’s most memorable scenes?

Deepika Padukone had a grand debut with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, which came out in 2007. As it involves revisiting some of her most memorable scenes to date, her grand participation in the film’s premiere in the movie is the best way to start the list. :

1. Om Shanti Om (2007)

As mentioned earlier, Padukone plays a star named Shanti Priya, our protagonist Om Prakash Makhija is beaten, played with enthusiasm by Shah Rukh Khan. When they first meet, she walks the red carpet and he is in the crowd to witness her aura and hysteria. Vishal-Shekhar’s charming Aanghon Mein Teri plays in the background when Khan’s hand accidentally gets caught in her Dupatta. It’s fitting that the film is based in the 1970s, and the two could have an intimate moment, otherwise Om would be thrown out by a bunch of bodyguards.

Love Aaj Kal (2009)

Unlike Jab We Met, love was way too complicated in Love Aaj Kal, Imtiaz Ali’s third film. The film begins with the breakup of Jai (Saif Ali Khan) and Meera’s (Deepika Padukone) and how fate continues to unite them with bizarre coincidences. An example of this is her wedding where she wants to talk to him one last time, but it’s Jai who does all the talking in the end, with a broken heart visible on his face, and Meera standing still. The scene ends and we wonder what exactly Meera’s thoughts would have been.

3. Cocktail (2012)

Considered the breakout role of Padukone, she played Veronica, who can be described as having a dual personality. She is (almost) a hippie, not ashamed of meeting strangers in public places and taking them home, especially to meet her parents. As the story progresses, we feel the emotional side of this woman, who yearns for true love. A monologue she delivers drunk on Saif Ali Khan’s Gautam is the time when she is emotionally exposed. It might be the best moment in the movie.

4. Chennai Express (2013)

We don’t often run into actresses doing physical comedy these days. They are just eye candies and hero objects of desire and fantasy. In Chennai Express, Padukone played an ingenious character who runs away from home after being forced to marry a man she doesn’t love. She meets Rahul and as the story goes on they share a room and he insists on sharing the bed too. Unknown to him and the viewers, she has a problem that is only discovered a few seconds later. She acts as if she is possessed and confesses that she has a habit of kicking people to sleep. And Padukone nails the timing!

5. Piku (2015)

She was the most likable in her most obnoxious nature to date. She played the eponymous character who has a hidden and cranky father at home. Given her volatile nature, one would like to know more about her physical relationships that her father talks openly about at a party and embarrasses her. Shortly before the end, she confesses that she’s been in physical relationships, and this is the first time we’ve seen her explode over her dad’s whining and silliness. It is a great moment that is executed enormously.
