Charisma Carpenter alleges Joss Whedon abused his power on Buffy The Vampire Slayer; Sarah Michelle Gellar stands with survivours : Bollywood News

Actor Ray Fisher alleged in 2020 that filmmaker Joss Whedon was indecent on the set Justice League. Once Jack Snyder had to leave the project due to personal reasons, the filmmaker came on board for the résumé. He had also reported that he was collaborating with Warner Bros. in the midst of the investigation against Whedon. Now, people are speaking out against the filmmaker for how he misused his power.

Karisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase in the Supernatural Drama Series, alleged that Whedon abused her power on several occasions when she was part of the Buffy Vampire Slayer and Angel. In a lengthy statement released on Wednesday, she stood with Ray Fisher amid the investigation and gave details of how Whedon would threaten to fire her when she was four months pregnant, calling him fat, asking him if She is going to have her baby and then be fired when she gave birth.

Here is his full statement:

“For almost two decades, I have held my tongue and even made excuses for some of the events that have hurt me to this day.

Joss Whedon abused his power on several occasions, while Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel worked together on the set. While he found his mistreatment amusing, it only served to intensify my performance anxiety, evict me and distance me from my peers. The disturbing events led to a chronic physical condition from which I am still suffering. It is with beats, heavy hearts that I say I mimic in isolation and, sometimes devastatingly.
Last summer, when Ray Fisher publicly accused me of abusive and unprofessional behavior towards the cast and crew during rehab on set in Justice League 2017, it tickled me. Joss has a history of being accidentally cruel. He has created a hostile and toxic work environment since his early career. I know because I first experienced it. Repeatedly.

His ongoing, passive-aggressive threats set me on fire, which wreaks havoc on a young actor’s self-esteem. And when I was 4 months pregnant, I was called “fat”, weighing 126 pounds. He was mean and bitten, talked openly about others, and often played favorites, distracting people to compete against each other and for his attention and approval.

They called me for a sit-down meeting and inquired to tell me about a lighted tattoo, which I found to help spiritually influence me in an increasingly volatile work environment, which made me physically Impressed.

Joss deliberately refused several calls from my agents, making it impossible for me to connect with him, to inform me that I was pregnant. Finally, once Jose was made aware of the situation, he requested a meeting with me. In that closed-door meeting, he asked me if I was “going to keep it” and flirted with me with my femininity and faith. He went on to attack my character, mocked my religious beliefs, accused me of sabotaging the show, and then fired me randomly once after giving birth.

At six months pregnant, I was asked to report to work at 1:00 am, when my doctor recommended reducing my working hours. Due to the long and physically demanding days and emotional stress of defending my needs as a working pregnant woman, I began to experience Braxton Hicks contractions. It was clear to me that the 1:00 AM call was retaliatory.

After this, I felt powerless and alone. With no other option, I swallowed the mistreatment and moved on. Eventually, I had a child on the way, and I was the primary breadwinner of my growing family. Unfortunately, all of this was happening during one of the most amazing times in new motherhood. All that promise and happiness sucked right out. And Jose was a vampire.

Despite the persecution, a part of me still sought his recognition. I made excuses for his behavior and suppressed his pain. I have also publicly stated at conferences that I will work with them again. Only recently, after years of therapy and a wake-up call from the Time Up movement, do I understand the complexities of this democratic thinking. It is impossible to understand the psyche without enduring abuse. Our society and industry subjugate the victims and glorify the evildoers for their achievements. One is on misconduct with the expectation to accept and adapt employment. No accountability on the sail being unregistered. Unfamiliar. to regret.
These memories and more have put weight on my soul like bricks for almost half of my life. I wish I had said something sooner. I wish I had the composition and courage all those years ago. But I silenced myself in shame and silence.

With shedding tears, I feel a great sense of responsibility towards Ray and others for my personal experience with Ray and it has pained me. It is clearly evident that Joss has continued his damaging actions, building debris in his rubble. My hope now is to come forward about these experiences, to make room for the treatment of others who I know have experienced serial abuse similar to power.

Recently, I participated in WarnerMedia’s Justice League investigation because I believe Ray is a person of integrity who is telling the truth. His firing as Cyborg in The Flash was the last straw for me. Although I am not shocked, but I am suffering from it. It bothers me and sad that in 2021 employees have to choose between whistleblowing in the workplace and job security.

It took me so long to dare to present this statement publicly. Its gravity has not fallen on me. As a single mother, whose livelihood of my family depends on my craft, I feel scared. Despite my fears about its impact on my future, I can no longer be silent. It is overdue and necessary. The time has come.”

As soon as Karisma Carpenter made his statement public, Justice League Actor Ray Fisher appeared in support. She wrote. “Karishma Carpenter is one of the bravest people I know. I am forever grateful for her courage and for giving her voice to the Justice League investigation. Read her truth. Share her truth. At all costs Protect. ” It’s time “A> E. #IStandWithCharisma. “

Lead actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy in the iconic show, posted on Instagram, “While I’m proud to associate my name with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be associated with the name Joss Whedon forever. Am. More focused on raising my family and avoiding an epidemic. I stand with all survivors of abuse and are proud of them for speaking out. “
