For most of us, school life is the best years of our lives. These memories are something we always cherish and keep close to our hearts. Especially the PT classes, where we got the chance to let off some steam and play some games under the sun, which really was a much needed break. Actors later and students first, which is why Chhalaang’s cast became extremely nostalgic for the sets of the film. Here’s what the cast and director had to tell about how they used to be, in their PT class and their rapport with their PT teachers.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta recalls the fond memories with his PT teacher, saying, “My PT teacher was a boy called Lenny Gonsalves. He was there before I joined the school and long after I left school. He was still there. when my kids were ready to go to school He died a few years ago I remember Lenny used to have a ruler he said everyone had to get their palms out and he ran off slapping everyone on the palms because no one PT seriously. “You a Phaat! That was his sentence. I remember him telling us to do three laps around the school grounds and for three years I gave him a letter from a doctor saying I have appendicitis. Coming from a family of doctors, I forged a letter and didn’t play sports for three years. In a way, this movie reminds me that if I had taken that running seriously, I would have been a little fitter. “
Nushrratt Bharuccha, Chhalaang’s protagonist, also shares the same emotions. She reveals that she was not an athlete during her school days and hated being out in the sun. In fact, the Pyaar Ka Punchnama actress shares an embarrassing story. She says: “Every activity on a sports day I just sat in a corner pretending I was not healthy because my teacher asked us to exercise in the scorching heat, which I never liked. teacher asked me to run in a race and in return she promised to give me treat at Mc Donald’s. So that’s the only race I’ve participated in. I’m embarrassed to talk about it because it was a needle and thread race. had to run to the other end where another person was standing with a needle and a piece of thread in hand. I had to thread the needle and walk back to my point. The funniest thing is that I couldn’t even get first in that race, I finished second. “
Rajkummar Rao, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. As a child he loved sports and never missed a chance to play. The actor jokes, “I shared a good rapport with my PT teachers because I was good at sports and always participated in different kinds of sports. My teachers really took care of me and they always forced me to strive harder and pursue higher things . “
Chhalaang, directed by Hansal Mehta, is produced by Luv Films and hosted by Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar.
