Deepak Segal on Call My Agent: approached them with vision for the Indian version


As the French comedy Call My Agent gained worldwide popularity, it was learned that Karan Johar was eager to acquire the adaptation rights to develop a similar series for Netflix India. However, in October, Applause Entertainment grabbed the rights to the Indian adaptation which is being awarded Rajat Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Aahana Kumra and Ayush Mehra.

The Shaad Ali-directed work comedy hit the floors at Filmalaya Studios last week. The Indian version will be viewed through the lens of four famous managers who spare no effort to ensure that their star clients at the top of their stake in Bollywood. Each episode features an exaggerated version of a real-life celebrity. “The world of talent managers in the film industry is not explored here yet. Writers Hussain and Abbas Dalal have done a great job of writing the six episodes under Shaad’s supervision.” In addition to working with a lean team and daily mandatory thermal screening, Segal says the studio has appointed a COVID inspector to monitor safety precautions on set.
