Fatima Sana Shaikh was part of Yash Raj Films’ Thugs of Hindostan that came out in 2018 and it was touted as the biggest movie of that year. Unfortunately, after a historic start at the box office, the collections saw a decline and decline and eventually failed at the counters.
Talked about the same in an interview with Rajeev Masand, the actress spoke about it and what happened after the shocking failure. She said: “Of course the failure of Thugs of Hindostan was a big blow to me. After Dangal everything was new: the fame, the applause and suddenly there were wrongdoing. It was a bit shocking and I felt my career was over because I fell out of some movies. “
She continued, “And then you feel whether you are getting work or not. And you also don’t want to compromise on the kind of work you want to do, you don’t want to be part of a certain kind of work. Movies. And then you make those choices. and then you fear “Am I in that position to make those choices?” And that also means that I will not be working for the coming year. “
She added, “That also means I’ll probably make one movie in a year. But I just took my instincts and told myself it’s okay if I’m not going to do a lot of work. Be happy with what I’m doing, but yeah I felt very low And that’s a process I’m much calmer now I’ve learned to do my job and move on because you can’t put all your money into one project and consider if this will work only then you get more work. “
Shaikh went on to talk about the critical panning the film received and how it felt, especially because of Dangal’s success. She said, “Frankly heartbreaking, but I also feel like this would happen to everyone. If you write a story tomorrow and put your heart and soul and you don’t get the result you want, you’re upset. I would be lying if I say I don’t care. “
She added, “How you handle that after dealing with it is quite another. It breaks your heart, breaks your soul. Especially since it took a long time to get into this industry. Dangal doesn’t come often. before, you don’t get the chance to be a part of a movie like that. I thank my stars and I was clear that if the movie failed, I wouldn’t have left the industry because it took years of struggle to get into this industry. “
Speaking of self-doubt, the actress said, “When I saw Dangal, I thought I was no good. I still wasn’t very sure about my job. I’m scared and I ask myself a lot of questions.” The actress is now preparing for two films: Ludo and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari. As a child actor she has appeared in such films as Chachi 420, Khoobsurat and One Two Ka Four.
