Vijay Varma, who rose to fame as Moeen in Gully Boy, has spoken about why it took him so long to find success in Bollywood, even though he’s been part of the Hindi film industry since 2012.
Vijay made his acting debut in 2012 with Chittagong. He was then seen in such films as Rangrezz, Monsoon Shootout, Raag Desh and Manto. It wasn’t until 2019 that he gained recognition, after appearing in the Ranveer Singh starrer Gully Boy.
He describes Gully Boy’s success as an overall triumph of the venture. “I just feel it’s the success of a business. ‘Gully Boy’ became a wonderful success and also became a part of pop culture, and it spoke very loudly to the public. So I think that was the turning point,” he said. Vijay. IANS. The actor says he still doesn’t know what has been missing for all these years.
“Actually, I was part of projects that didn’t achieve the resounding success of ‘Gully Boy’, so that was the only difference. Also, I was constantly evolving as an actor. I got older in life and evolved artistically at the same time,” he said.
Vijay is currently running the web series Mirzapur season two. Speaking of being a part of the hit show, he said, “It feels great, absolutely wonderful. I can’t express how fascinated and euphoric I am right now, knowing that the show’s fandom is on another level and that expectations are high. The trailer was well received. “
