Ludo director Anurag Basu: Rajkummar Rao starred in Mithun’s avatar

Rajkummar Rao pays tribute to legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty in a film based on four individuals whose lives converge in a metropolis. Anurag Basu’s Netflix offering sees Rao as the fan of the Bollywood icon, part of which the filmmaker says has been executed with the utmost finesse. Raj is a versatile actor. His character’s backstory is funny. During the appearance tests we ran for him, he loved one where he looked like Mithun Chakraborty. He especially excelled when he performed his first scene in that avatar , ”says Basu, adding that Rao is above his weight and recommending ways to improve his share.

He points to a specific scene of the Ram-Leela to plead for himself. “Initially we didn’t have a fight sequence in that scene, but Raj was keen that we would add one. When we were on set, he showed me a video of a fight that broke out during a Ram-Leela event, and we decided to include it in our movie. “
