The competition of producers increasingly turning to literature to find inspiration for cinematic adaptations has a new addition. Chak The India star Sagarika Ghatge tells mid-day that she acquired the rights to a novel to mark her likely foray into production. “I have been lucky enough to have worked with talented producers and plan to take the next step by starting my own production [house]. I have acquired the rights to a novel and the process to take this further has already begun, ” says the actor, adding that the range of channels available for people to consume content makes this era very promising for entertainers.
In a first kind, the actor’s last offering, the Friday release Footfairy, went straight to television instead of taking a digital route. The release of & Pictures revolves around a cat-and-mouse chase between a CBI officer and a fetishized serial killer. “The film was released at an appropriate time, as the medium doesn’t matter in the current screenplay. Nowadays people are viewing content in a new light and it is a good time to be part of the industry,” said the actor. who plays a pediatrician in the edgy thriller.
