Amid unconfirmed reports that Salman Khan has sold the satellite, theatrical, digital and music rights to his upcoming Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai for a whopping Rs 230 crore to Zee Studios, cinema theater owners associations have sent a letter to the superstar asking him to only release the film in theaters on Eid 2021.
The letter, shared by exhibitors on Saturday, urged Salman to help the cinema industry in its time of struggle amid the ongoing Covid pandemic.
The letter has been signed by exhibitor associations from different parts of the country, including Uttarakhand, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan Bihar, Telangana, Delhi, Dehradun and Hyderabad.
Exhibitors believe the film will be a mass entertainer like most Salman’s Eid releases. The film is expected to draw audiences to theaters, especially during a festival like Eid, and help the struggling exhibition industry that suffered massive losses during the ongoing pandemic.
The letter reads: “Dear Mr. Salman Khan, I hope you like this letter. As you know, 2020 has been a difficult year for millions of people across the country and the years associated with the film exhibition industry in India were no exception. Over the past 10 months, hundreds of independent, single-screen cinemas have closed their shutters permanently and this has resulted in the loss of income for many people directly and indirectly employed by them.
Here’s a humble call from the movie exhibition industry. Really hope #Radhe can provide some much-needed relief to theaters and bring joy to your fans across the country! We want #RadheOnEid in cinemas! #SupportCinemas #SaveJobs #India #RadheInCinemas @SKFilmsOfficial pic.twitter.com/GavtZQwJfz
