Sangeen: Elnaaz Norouzi’s second act with Nawazuddin Siddiqui after Sacred Games

Crying is not the reaction that Nawazuddin Siddiqui would like to evoke in his leading ladies. But that’s exactly what Iranian actor Elnaaz Norouzi did when she learned she was starring opposite him in Sangeen. Days after director Jaideep Chopra announced the psychological thriller, Norouzi, speaking to us from Germany, says: “I’ve always wanted to focus on acting instead of dance numbers. After Sacred Games I wanted to work with Nawaz again, sir because I learned a lot of him on set. When I was chosen for Sangeen, I was so emotional that I started to cry. “

Working with Siddiqui on the web series was like going back to drama school for Norouzi, who played Bollywood actor Zoya Mirza. “I remember asking him how he pulled humor so effortlessly. Often it sounds fake when actors smile in front of the camera. Instead of answering, he started laughing. When he stopped laughing, I realized he was the all the time, but his smile was so natural I couldn’t tell the difference. “

Sangeen, which is expected to roll in January 2021, will be filmed in London and Mumbai. The actor believes the script will keep viewers engaged in the plot twists. “When I read the script, I didn’t see the end coming. I’m glad to play such a layered role so early in my career.”
