The Supreme Court on Friday said that actor Riya Chakraborty’s case against Priyanka Singh, sister of Sushant Singh Rajput, will not be quashed. Chakraborty accused Priyanka of arranging a fake drug to help Sushant use the banned drug. The CBI will now investigate the matter and investigate the case as the SC had earlier ruled that all the FIRs related to Sushant’s death will be investigated by the Central Investigation Agency.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s family, after registering a complaint against Rajput’s sisters Priyanka and Mitu Singh, accused Sushant Singh Rajput’s family that Riya Chakraborty was being investigated by several central agencies. The sisters were charged with violation and violation of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act on the basis of Chakraborty’s complaint.
On June 8, six days before Chakraborty filed a complaint based on WhatsApp texts between Sushant and Priyanka Singh. According to the chat, Priyanka had advised her brother to take three medicines – Librium, Mexito and Lonazep. These are prescribed for depression and anxiety but are not purchased over the counter and require prescriptions.
On 15 February, the Bombay High Court held that the investigation against Priyanka Singh would continue, while the case against Mitu Singh would be quashed. On Friday, Priyanka’s lawyer argued in the SC that Sushant did not have any evidence of the use of the said drug. She also stated in her petition that the doctor she consulted was eligible to be prescribed through drugs and teleconciliation.
