Will Shah Rukh Khan play a dual father-son role in Atlee’s movie?

After being missing from the big screen for nearly two years, Shah Rukh Khan is ready to get back into action with three films: Siddharth Anand’s Pathan, Rajkumar Hirani’s social comedy and Southern filmmaker Atlee’s campaigner. While the superstar is known to appear in a dual role in the Atlee-directed venture, it has now been revealed that he will portray the roles of father and son whose conflicting ideals drive a wedge between them.

The film marks his third attempt at a double role after Duplicate (1998) and Don (2006). However, unlike those movies, the two characters here are a generation apart. At the heart of the actors is the father-son relationship, which is broken by their polarizing worldviews. The father is a senior R&AW agent, who is on a mission to catch his gangster son. While the premise is similar to that of Ramesh Sippy’s Shakti (1982), the stories have nothing in common, “a source reveals. Khan will apparently wear heavy prosthetics to do justice to the role of the father. “The project will probably start in mid-2021, after Pathan is finished.”

mid-day, he contacted Atlee, who was unavailable for comment.
