Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt starrer SADAK 2 is misleading, disappointing and dull fare.

If Mahesh Bhatt was not mentioned, the list of a great Bollywood director would be incomplete. He carved out a niche for himself and impressed audiences and critics alike with his ability to handle light-hearted music as well as serious, intense drama. In the latter category he had a memorable film SADAK. [1991]. The film was praised for its performance, especially Sadashiv Amrapurkar as the villainous queen, theme and music. After 29 years, Mahesh Bhatt decided to pursue this story with SADAK 2. It is an important film as it is making a comeback under the direction of Mahesh Bhatt after almost 21 years. This is Bhatt’s debut film with his daughter Alia Bhatt with Vishwesh Films banner, which makes it special. So does SADAK 2 manage to entertain and thrill the audience like the first part? Or does it fail to entertain? Let us analyze.

SADAK 2 is the story of a girl trying to expose a powerful godman. Arya (Alia Bhatt) has lost her mother Shakuntala to cancer, but she feels that this is due to the involvement of a god Gyan Prakash (Makarand Deshpande). His father, Yogesh Desai (Jishu Sengupta) is a devotee of Gyan Prakash and he fails to realize the truth. She is even married to Shakuntala’s sister Nandini (Priyanka Bose), who is also a follower of Gyan Prakash. Arya meanwhile starts an online campaign against this god and gets close to 2 lakh followers. It also helps to meet Vishal (Aditya Roy Kapur) and the two soon start a relationship. All is going well but one day, Gyan Prakash sends a henchman to try to kill Arya. However, Vishal kills the henchman for which he was jailed. Arya is sent to a mental asylum and declared mentally ill. His online activities have also stopped. However, she runs away from the hospital and decides to go to Mount Kailash. It is because of that 21St. Birthday is in the corner and his mother wanted him to visit this holy place on this important day of his life. She books the cab three months before Pooja Travels and Tours run by Pooja (Pooja Bhatt) and her husband Ravi (Sanjay Dutt). After Pooja accepts the booking, she dies in a road accident. Ravi falls apart and commits suicide. This is when Arya comes down to her place and demands to go to Ranikhet from where he goes to take Chopper for Mount Kailash. Ravi reluctantly accepts the booking due to Pooja’s reference. The journey begins and the two tell each other about the miseries of their lives. Incidentally, Vishal, too, is released from jail and he too joins the yatra. Unfortunately, Gyan Prakash’s men catch up with the trio. God sends his most devoted disciple, Dilip Hathkata (Gulshan Grover), to eliminate them. What happens next makes the rest of the film.

The story of Mahesh Bhatt and Suhrita Sengupta is irrational and everywhere. There is no head or tail for the plot and it is shocking that it too has been approved. The script by Mahesh Bhatt and Suhrita Sengupta fails to improve the weak plot. The authors may have had a lot as they raised the burning subject of fake theologians. It is amazing that they let this huge opportunity go. Instead, he resorted to cheap gimmicks and twists and began to shun audiences. The dialogues of Mahesh Bhatt and Suhrita Sengupta are nothing special.

Mahesh Bhatt’s direction is not working. Disha has always been with him but here he is not in form at all. The film has glaring flaws and their execution does nothing to hide them well. For example, Vishal is jailed for killing a person. By Arya’s own admission, the police arrested him as he was ordered to do so by Gyan Prakash. Nevertheless, how on earth he manages to be released from prison is something that goes to a bouncer. The twist in Yogesh Desai’s track is also very unconformable. Although the worst is reserved for the climax. From the scene where Ravi feeds Arya and Vishal a pleasing cake, Ravi enters easily in place of a powerful deity, making the last 20 minutes difficult for the audience to bear.

SADAK 2 begins on a bizarre note. The introduction of the characters is not well done and makes it clear that it will not be a smooth ride. The film gets a little better once Arya and Ravi get to know each other. However, the argument takes a continuous backseat and it becomes too much after a point. The scene where Ravi gets into action mode and harasses Dilip Hathkata and his men. Also, the scene where Arya makes it clear that he still loves Vishal, despite knowing the truth, is making the heart happy. But more and more twists are unveiled and instead of surprising, it disappoints the audience. One still hopes that the end will be the highpoint. Instead, it is shocking and bad. The final scene is considered, but mostly thanks to the lack of understanding and logic in the film, this particular sequence does not arouse any emotion.

Sanjay Dutt is the best attraction of the film. He is in his element and manages to deliver a solid performance. He looks quite dapper too. Alia Bhatt is also doing her best but is lethargic due to the weak screenplay. She too, is looking very gaudy. Aditya Roy Kapur is fine but in the second half he barely gets the scope. Pooja Bhatt is not in the film at all and only her voice is heard. Makarand Deshpande laughs in every way and poses as a weak villain. Jishu Sengupta also does a lot. The same goes for Priyanka Bose. Gulshan Grover is criminally ruined. His character looked great, but there is not much to do. John Gardner (John) and Mohan Kapoor (Rajesh Puri) are the only two supporting actors who do not star in the film. Anil George (Om), Himanshu Bhatt (Gaurav), Jahangir Karkaria (Dr Dastur), Crisan Perera (Naina Das) and Akash Khurana (Psychiatrist) are fine.

The music of this film is not a shelf life. ‘Ishq Kamaal’ There are some recall values ​​but the rest of the songs – ‘Shukriya’, ‘Tum Se Hi’ And ‘Dil Ki Purani Sadak’ – Do not leave a mark. Sandeep Chauta’s background score is a complaint by Sains.

JI Patel’s cinematography is quite good and captures the location well. Abbas Ali Mogul’s action is dramatic. Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty’s production design and Priyanka Bhatt’s costumes are fine. Sandeep Kurup’s editing is nothing special.
