EC to announce Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry soon

The Election Commission will announce the schedule for Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, West Bengal and Puducherry at 4.30 pm on Friday.

Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and West Bengal – four state legislatures expire in May and June.

Meanwhile, presidential rules have been imposed in Puducherry and the Congress government led by V Narayanasamy was put under suspended animation after resigning before confidence earlier this week.

– Assembly elections in five states / UTs are being held in April-May. Voting will be held for 294 seats in West Bengal, 234 seats in Tamil Nadu, 140 seats in Kerala, 126 seats in Assam and 30 seats in Puducherry.

The current term of the West Bengal Assembly elections comprising 204 seats will be held on May 30.

-This will be the first election after the digital voter ID card rollout. Thus, people exercising their franchise will be able to vote by showing their e-election photo ID.
