Amid speculation of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sisi Adhikari said on Wednesday that if his son Suvendu Adhikari asked him to do so, he would join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Kanthi on March 20.
“I will support my son. If they ask me to go to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting, I will definitely go,” the CC official told ANI.
Suvendu Adhikari, a minister in the TMC government, joined the BJP in December last year. The BJP has fielded Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the seat is facing the most high-profile contest in the West Bengal elections.
Suvendu Adhikari had earlier said that the BJP would defeat Banerjee by 50,000 votes from Nandigram.
The 294-member West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in eight phases from March 26 to April 29. The vote count will be on May 2. (ANI)
