Mamata has expressed support for Arvind Kejriwal to ‘fight’ against the NCT bill

New Delhi : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday wrote a letter to her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal in the Lok Sabha in support of her ‘struggle’ against the introduction of Delhi’s National Capital Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2021, calling the move a “surgical strike on the federal structure”.

“The National Capital Territory of Delhi Government (Amendment) Bill, 2021, introduced by the BJP government at the Center in the Lok Sabha, is a surgical strike on the federal structure of the Republic of India.”

Banerjee said that the BJP, which suffered from the Aam Aadmi Party in the Assembly elections, wants to run Delhi with a proxy, which is the real purpose of the proposed amendments to the GNCTD Act.

“It is clear to both that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have not been able to defeat the BJP’s humiliating defeat at the hands of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Assembly elections. They want to rule Delhi by proxy, which is the real purpose of the proposed amendments to the GNCTD Act. “He said.

In response to his letter, Kejriwal tweeted: “Thank you Didi for your strong support to the people of Delhi.”

The bill was introduced by the central government in the Lok Sabha on March 15.
