Ilatuwalapil Sridharan, popularly known as “Metro Man”, is ready to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, says Kerala State team president E Surendran on Thursday.
He will officially join the party at Kerala’s rath yatra ‘Vijaya Yatra’ before the state assembly elections later this year.
Sreedharan recently said that only the BJP can ensure justice in Kerala, adding that he is ready to contest if the party says so.

The procession will start from Kasaragod on February 21 and end in Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of March.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will start the journey. Several cabinet and top officials of the party will lead the procession throughout the event.
Kerala is scheduled to go to the polls in April. In the 2016 Assembly elections, the BJP won one of the 140 seats – Nemam. Veteran leaders believe the party has a chance to perform in the upcoming elections.
Sreedharan retired as the head of Delhi Metro on December 31, 2011. He is credited with transforming the look of public transport in India under his leadership in the construction of the Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro.
In February 2014, he was also appointed as the Chief Adviser to the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC). Metro Man submitted his resignation from MLRC in 2014 citing health problems.
In 2015, he was appointed by former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to serve on the UN High-Level Advisory Group on Stable Transport for three years.
