NCSC launches online portal for allegations of atrocities against Scheduled Castes

The National Scheduled Caste Commission (NCSC) today announced an online complaint management portal for filing allegations of atrocities against citizens belonging to Scheduled Castes. In the next two weeks, the government will also launch apps for the portal, which will run on both Android and iOS smartphones. State Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Ratan Lal Kataria said the portal would allow citizens to file complaints from anywhere in the country.

Allegations of atrocities against Scheduled Castes have yet to be filed. Ncsc.negd.in – This portal will allow users to track the progress of their complaints, a matter of pain that many users have long complained about. It has been developed in collaboration with the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geonformatics (BISAG-N), a center under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (METY).

The portal is intended to make the hearing processor similar to India’s e-court project and allows redressal of grievances “in a timely manner” for the country’s Scheduled Castes. The portal is linked to the NCSC website and users need to register using it using their mobile number and other personal details. Interestingly, the Aadhaar number was not identified as a prerequisite for creating your account.

It will be available in English and Hindi, although documents can be uploaded in multiple languages and with different file types (including audio and video files). The government says that at the moment the portal will complement the process of physical submission for such complaints.
