Puducherry CM VV Narayanasamy has lost a vote of confidence in the Assembly

The Congress-led government in Pondicherry today lost the confidence vote of Chief Minister V Narayanasamy in the face of 11 losses against 14 members of the opposition after the resignation of the ruling MLAs, including the DMK MLA.

Although Narayanasamy withdrew the motion seeking a vote of confidence a few minutes after the one-day special session meeting, he and his ruling party legislators later walked out with the motion before it could be voted on.

Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan ordered him to undergo a floor test shortly after he took over additional responsibilities in Pondicherry last Thursday.

Assembly elections are likely to be held in Puducherry in April / May
