Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad

Buldhana (Maha): Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, who at one point dealt with the supply of remediation in Maharashtra, said he was hopeful he could get “cornavirus in the face” of BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, sparking protests by the opposition.

The Shiv Sena, led by the three-party ruling coalition in the state, is targeting the former chief minister for objecting to Mumbai police objecting to grilling the director of a firm company for stockpiling thousands of vials of rimadesiv in high demand for treatment of carnivirus patients.

“If I had gotten the coronavirus, I’d have put it in Fadnavis’s mouth,” Gaikwad said.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Buldhana MLA Gaikwad asked what Fadnavis would have done if he had been the chief minister during the epidemic.

Instead of supporting the state ministers, BJP leaders are mocking them and want the state government to fail, he said.

The Center has asked the companies manufacturing remedicavia in Maharashtra not to supply drugs in the state, he claimed.

Following Gaikwad’s remarks, BJP activists on Sunday staged a protest in Buldhana against him and burnt the MLA’s statue.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP vice-president Sanjay Kute alleged at a press conference in Buldhana that MVA leaders were using obscene language against the central government and Fadnavis to confuse the people of the state, calling it “cheap politics”.

“This is the end of the matter for us. We will aggressively raise the failure of the MVA government,” he said.

Kute said Gaikwad’s supporters pelted his car with stones after the president attacked.

MLA Gaikwad on Monday alleged that BJP leaders Fadnavis, Prabin Darekar and Chandrakant Patal had aided the owner of Brooke Pharma who had stockpiled injections of Remedaciv and was recently interrogated by Mumbai police.

“They (the central government) are supplying injections of remediciva to Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. However, Fadnavis, Darekar and Patil are obstructing the supply of remedicav to Maharashtra,” he complained.

Gaikwad demanded that Fadnavis, Darekar and Patil should be held responsible for the death of a COVID-19 patient in Maharashtra and that they should be prosecuted for treason.
